This is the end of this newsletter as we know it, and I feel fine.

This newsletter began March 9, 2009, as an example of the wonderful information available at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TwinCitiesPagans/ Many people joined the Yahoo group, but far more people joined the other places where the newsletter was published. The purpose of this newsletter was and always has been to try and get people to join the Yahoo group.

That goal has been accomplished. Over 700 are now members of the Yahoo group. The work of this newsletter is done. Although many enjoy this newsletter, nobody needs it since the information in the newsletter is available at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TwinCitiesPagans/

For the thousands who subscribe through Facebook, you have the option to join a Yahoo group to stay informed, at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TwinCitiesPagans/
Just sign up for the daily digest and it’s not overwhelming. It’s also far more informative then the tiny blurbs in the newsletter.

This is the penultimate issue of this newsletter. There will be one more publication on December 21, and that’s it.

This newsletter began as a way of promoting the Twin Cities Pagans Yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TwinCitiesPagans/ Since I began working with it, the Yahoo group has grown more then ten times larger. It went from being on the verge of being shut down to being the most active Pagan Yahoo group in Paganistan.

A lot has been reported in this newsletter. Looking through the archive, we have seen the creation of Paganicon our local Pagan conference, the creation of the Pagan Newswire collective, the opening and closing of our Pagan community center, The opening and closing of a metaphysical shop in Prior Lake, the moving of the Eye of Horus to its new location, Keys of Paradise moving to its new location, countless rituals, births, deaths, and the community coming together over and over. Many of these you heard about first through this outlet.

Orion Foxwood has previously visited the Twin Cities and presented at the Eye of Horus, developing a significant following. Brandy Williams has done significant work on feminism in magickal circles. The night of December 21 through the morning of December 22, The Eye of Horus will be hosting an all night fire circle. This event will combine the transformative power of an alchemical fire circle with the devotion of a Yule vigil, on a year ending the Mayan calendar. This is a spiritually and physically demanding event, but for those who are able, it has the potential of being life changing. Circle of Dragons will begin a Year and a Day intensive course for Solitaires that would like the Pre-Initiate education given to Covener's, without the necessity of joining a Coven, February, 2013. Oak Gove Training Circle, based around the Gardnerian tradition, is now accepting applications for our 2013 Training Grove, for people over 21 years old. The Grove will meet approximately every other Friday. Please contact the Oak Grove at oakgrovempls@ gmail.com for additional information

With this announcement, there are three covens who have announced within the last month that they are open to taking on students: Triskellion Wicca who can be contacted at Triskellion1@usfmily.net for serious students, Coven of the Standing Stones who have just begun a series of seeker classes with the next at 6:30pm this Friday at Books & Herbs, and now Oak Grove. If you have been interested in learning about Wicca, this is the time.

Tuesday at from 3:35pm to 5:12pm, there will be a total solar eclipse which will only be visible in the south pacific, and we’ll get no hint seeing it here, so never mind.

Leonids Meteor Shower will be at its peak this Saturday.

Coldwater Springs is the last natural spring in Hennepin County. According to an article at http://www.friendsofcoldwater.org/, in the past 14 years, construction around the spring has decreased water flow by 69,000 Gallons Per Day. According to Susu Jeffrey, “With each development or ‘improvement’ around Coldwater the flow to this last natural spring, this ‘medicine water,’ is forever gone. There are consequences.”

There is some variation on when people celebrate the fall cross quarter. Some say that it begins on the night of October 31, some say that it is the full moon closest to the cross quarter, some say that is linked to events in nature such as the first frost. Some would calculate the exact moment between the equinox and solstice as November 6 at 6:10pm.

Seasonal celebrations begin next weekend at hidden Falls Park with the BareBones 19th Annual Halloween Outdoor Puppet Extravaganza. Then the next two weekends are packed with celebrations. Hopefully there will be a celebration that will fill your needs.

Anne Marie Forrester’s newest master work, Nuit, Queen of Heaven, is now on display at the Eye of Horus. Saturday’s unveiling was quite an event. Stop by the Eye and see the beautiful painting in the newly decorated Temple Room. It’s also worth noting here that the Eye of Horus has a permanent temple space that is ready to go for rituals that is rentable for events.

It’s hard to believe that Roger has retired from Magus Books & Herbs. His voice does still greet people on their answering machine, as of this morning. It is a voice which will be missed by many customers. Many warm wishes to Roger for a blessed retirement. You have done a lot for this community.

Next Friday a new labyrinth will have its installation celebration at the Eye of Horus. Hat was the large multi-purpose room at the Eye of Horus, is now the temple room with a permanent labyrinth painted on the floor. The Eye of Horus had had a permanent labyrinth at their previous location, and now have one again. Sacred Harvest Festival was astounding. Old friendships were reestablished. New friendships were begun. New skills were learned. Old skills were honed. There was much growth, and much rest. Sacred Harvest Festival is this week. For many people around here, Sacred Harvest Festival is just the big local Pagan festival. Many do not realize how uniquely important Sacred Harvest Festival is.

Years ago, I traveled to many Pagan festivals. I wanted to explore what it was to be a Pagan, and meet as many Pagans as possible. What I found was that at many Pagan festivals, people drank mead, drank other alcohol, had sex, and generally had a really good time. Sure there were workshops and rituals, but they were rarely well attended. Mostly Pagan festivals seemed like fun social gatherings.

Then I attended Sacred Harvest Festival. I didn’t attend the ritual, and what I saw was a mostly empty camp. Almost everyone else had gone to the ritual. People actually attended workshops also, and the quality of workshops was excellent. I saw children with families, where they were actually behaving as families. There was some mead, but very little drunkenness, despite the fact that the quality of the mead was superior to what was found at many other festivals. It was clear that Sacred Harvest Festival was special. I found it to be so significant that I wanted to be a part of the community which made this festival happen, and moved to the Twin Cities because of this experience.

By the time you read this, I will probably be at Sacred Harvest Festival. There are many in this community whose lives have been positively impacted by Sacred Harvest Festival. Many things have begun there, local political movements, friendships, events, and pregnancies. It is a fertile place for many purposes. Many seeds are planted and much grows. The Yahoo group has always been the source for this newsletter, and it is time to return the focus to the source.

It’s just one more week until Sacred Harvest Festival, August 6-12; http://harmonytribe.org/content/sacred-harvest-festival-2012-our-fifteenth-year

At Sacred Harvest Festival in 2008, I participated in a ritual known as The Sacred Hunt. It is a powerful and transformational ritual. I hunted for community. When I returned from the festival, I began developing the community Calendar at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TwinCitiesPagans/

In order to promote the Yahoo group, I began putting out this newsletter. My goal was never to publish a newsletter, but rather to promote the Yahoo group, but one thing led to another, and here we are four years later, and the newsletter is still going.
Putting out the newsletter just keeps getting to be more and more of a hassle, so after Yule of this year, I am stopping. I will continue updating the Yahoo group, but I will no longer be publishing this newsletter.

Sacred Fire Circle in Paradise was amazing. It is such a wonderful gathering for experiencing profound personal growth. This event helps make participants better.

This Saturday, WiCoM will be hosting the super mega amazing Sacred Places/Psychic Sightseeing Tour where they will tour the Twin Cities from 9:15am until 5pm exploring exactly the sort of places that most of us want to explore.
